Flaming Gorge Harley-Davidson®, Inc. began in 1986 as Harley-Davidson® of Green River, Inc. Owners Dave and Lynda Laughlin raised their children Doug, Danielle and Dennis while running the dealership. All three children worked in the dealership at on time or another. Their youngest son, Dennis, was raised in the business and is now Co-Owner and on-site General Manager of the shop. The business has grown considerably from selling eight motorcycles that first year in business. The original showroom was 800 square feet and was the first of the "designer showrooms" that are now mandated by Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Despite the original building being expanded on several times, eventually it could grow no more and we were forced to move on.
In 2003 the dealership was moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, where we made history as the first full-service dealership anchoring a shopping mall. We also held claim to owning the World’s Largest Lighted Bar and Shield! Occupying 45,000 sq/ft in a mall had some good points as well as some unique challenges that we had to overcome. When the housing market collapsed and the Great Recession hit in 2008, things got pretty tough. None the less, we weathered the storm and persevered.
In January 2013 (once the mall lease was up) we moved back dowm the raod to our current location at 440 Uinta Drive in Green River, Wyoming. The move back home has enabled us to restore the hometown feeling and personalized service that is hard to pull off in a huge location. Unfortunately (due to ordinance restrictions) we were unable to utilize our giant sign, which has now found its way to Adam Smith H-D in Texas.
With 22,500 square feet, our current building is bright and spacious, offering a fabulous assortment of motorcycles, clothing, collectibles, leather, chrome, bike accessories, and of course T-shirts! The parking lot provides ample space for big rigs and RVs. Access is easy on, easy off from the interstate at Exit 91 then south on Highway 530 for 1 mile.
Our motto is “The Friendliest Dealership in the West.” We strive to live up to that motto at all times. When you walk in, you will be offered cold water, hot coffee and popcorn from our customer lounge. Though are staff may be few, we have close to a hundred years of combined Harley-Davidson knowledge. Our store is decorated with antique wagons, ranch, mining and railroad memorabilia, rivaling the atmosphere of many exclusive boutiques in Jackson Hole or Colorado’s tourist areas. Merchandise is attractively displayed in a warm, friendly atmosphere, and we strive to pass on the Western Hospitality inspired by our “Old West” decorating theme. We also understand what it means to be on the road. As such we do our absolute best to give priority treatment to travelers passing through.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our awesome shop. We look forward to meeting you!
